Joe Turner graduated summa cum laude from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, where he majored in criminology. During undergraduate school, he worked as a correctional officer in the state prison. He graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1977 at the age of 22. He was Chief of the Trial Section for the Travis County Attorney's Office. As an Assistant District Attorney, he was Chief of the Special Crimes Division. He later became an Assistant United States Attorney. He has been a criminal defense lawyer in Austin, Texas since 1982. He has been board-certified in criminal law since 1983, and is a member of both the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is primarily known for his "two word" verdicts in his many murder trials. As a criminal defense attorney for the past 30 years, he has represented a long list of celebrities and musicians, including Willie Nelson and Matthey McConnaughey.

Joan Marron grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and moved to Austin, Texas in 1997 where she attended the University of Texas. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in 2000, she decided to make Texas her permanent residence. She went on to receive her Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas in 2010.
While at St. Mary’s University School of Law she worked at St. Mary’s Center for Legal and Social Justice representing indigent clients in various civil matters, and ultimately received the Francisco Leos Award for Excellence in Clinical Studies. She began her legal career in San Antonio representing plaintiffs in first party property claims against insurance companies, before moving back home to Austin and joining the Law Office of Joseph A Turner, P.C. in 2014. Since joining the firm, she has completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration/International Association of Chiefs of Police Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Practitioner Course. In her free time, she enjoys camping, running, spending time outdoors, and training at Atomic Athlete.

Nicole has been with the firm since 2009 and works as the office manager and paralegal to Joe Turner and Joan Marron. Nicole has a Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice from Texas State University, with a minor in psychology, and she has a paralegal certification from the University of Houston.
Jose Morales keeps the office operating smoothly. He is a jack-of-all-trades. Jose has worked with the firm for over 20 years and is vital to the firm's continued success.
